Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic off to slow start, from rebounding to efficiency: ‘The struggle, it’s a privilege’
"‘"This is a six-game sample size of one of the most efficient basketball players that’s ever lived,’ Nuggets coach David Adelman says. ‘So I’ll die on that sword.’

???Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic off to slow start, from rebounding to efficiency: ‘The struggle ? Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic off to slow start, from rebounding to efficiency: ‘The struggle?
‘This is a six-game sample size of one of the most efficient basketball players that’s ever lived,’ Nuggets coach David Adelman says. ‘So I’ll die on that sword.’
One constant in Denver, the foundational reality on which every other variable depends, is that Nikola Jokic is one of the best basketball players on Earth. That his minutes, if all else fails, will be a resounding success.
“We got our (butts) kicked on the glass,” coach David Adelman said after the 118-110 loss at Ball Arena. “… This was a really frustrating night. I just think we gave the game away just in the hustle categories.”
“I mean, the guy is really tall, you know? I feel like even when I kind of boxed out him, he Adelman agreed, cutting Jokic some slack while diagnosing the 53-37 discrepancy in individual rebounds. He pointed out that Portland doesn’t have a traditional four and was sending guards to crash the boards from every direction, creating tips and attainable 50-50 balls that Denver lost.
Jokic is securing only 19.6% of all possible defensive rebounds when he’s on the floor, down from !27% last season. He’s been above 25% each of the last five seasons.
“We’ve gotta help Jok out,” Jamal Murray said. “I think we’ve just got accustomed to him grabbing so many boards against every single matchup, every single night. … We’ve gotta go in and hit somebody. Grab the ball.”
“I don’t know why, but when I’m shooting them and practicing them, I’m kind of making it,” he said. “But I’m not making in the game. But I think the struggle, it’s a privilege. Pushing to get better and pushing to think of what’s the problem.”

Nuggets’ Ball Arena woes persist as Trail Blazers rally from 14 down for win
Portland gradually took over the game with a 3-point shooting discrepancy and a rebounding advantage
HOME COURT DISADVANTAGE"
They led for three quarters Monday, but the visiting Trail Blazers slowly whittled down a 14-point deficit until it was a late 9-point lead — and a 118-110 Nuggets loss. Denver (3-3) fell to 1-2 at home, its only win coming in overtime after a 23-point comeback against New Orleans.
The Blazers (5-1) took their first lead with 9:29 to go on a Chris Youngblood tip-in. Jamal Murray, trying to will his team to another win, clanked a jumper at the other end. Jrue Holiday buried a 3-pointer. The Nuggets suddenly found themselves playing from behind. They couldn’t get all the way back. Toumani Camara knocked down a 3-pointer with 1:10 to play, doubling Portland’s lead and landing a final blow.

"הוא השחקן WHO LEADS OUR WAY. “Maxey’s been leading the way. 100%,” Brown said of his teammate, via John Clark of NBC10 Philadelphia.
“"He’s been here, this is his team. Him and Joel have been here for a while, so the mindset has been to complement those guys. I’m finding my footing, but Maxey’s been leading the way for sure.”

With that team option, Powell can effectively be treated as an expiring contract. That would make him far easier to move ahead of the Feb. 11 trade deadline (though Powell is not eligible to be traded by the Bulls until Dec. 15 as a new signee).
