אני לא צודק תמיד. לפעמים אני גם טועה, נניח 3 פעמים מ-100. זה טיפונת טוב יותר מ-K-700 שצודק 3 פעמים מ-100. וכן, K-700, ראיתי את כל משחק מנצ'סטר יונייטד, והאמת? הם הרשימו אותי. אבל הם הסן אנטוניו שלי: אני לא הכי שונא אותם כי לפניהם יש מנצ'סטר סיטי, ולפני הספארס יש הלייקרס.

*בזה עדיין לא אוכל להתגאות, אבל נבאתי שששה (6) מהשחקנים של האליפות ישחקו באולימפיאדת ריו ב-2016: קיירי אירוינג, קליי ת'ומפסון, סטפן קרי, קנת' פאריד, אנטוני דייויס, ולמרכוס קאזנס. אני נשבע שפשוט שכחתי את ג'יימס הארדן שיהיה שביעי בקבוצה. מה כל זה אומר? שמהרשימה הבאה: לברון ג'יימס, קווין דוראנט, קווין לאב, דווייט האוארד, למרכוס אלדרידג', כריס פול, ראסל ווסטברוק,  כריס בוש, פול ג'ורג', בלייק גריפין, כרמלו אנטוני, ודמיאן לילארד (את דוויין ווייד וקובי בריאנט אני כלל לא מכליל) – רק חמישה ייבחרו. אלה שהוצעאו את עצמם מהנבחרת הוציאו את עצמם גם מ-'הרשימה הנכבדת', והקבוצה הנוגכחית תהיה הגרעין ל-2016. כל שחקן מאלה שלא שיחקו בספרד – מלבד לברון וקווין דוראנט –  יצטרך לכבוש את המשבצת שלו העונה, במשך הפלייאוף, ובעונה הבאה.

אני חותם לכם עכשיו שאפילו מקומם של כריס פול וראסל ווסטברוק לא מובטח, ועל אחת כמה וכמה מקומו של קווין לאב. בלייק גריפין יעשה כנראה את נבחרת 2016, אבל לא אוטומטית.

MADRID — With golden confetti raining on their heads and "Party in the U.S.A." ringing in their ears, it must have been hard for the U.S. basketball players to hear anything.

Doesn't matter. They had stopped listening long ago.

For an instant, Team USA looked like it might have a problem against Serbia, but that moment was passed en route to American gold, Marc Stein writes. Story

 

All the questions about their talent, the doubts about their ability, were put down as easily as their opponents.

"It kind of was, again, a smack to our face, saying the U.S. was sending the B-team to go play in the World Cup," forward Kenneth Fariedsaid. "Just because LeBron [James]'s not here,Kobe [Bryant]'s not here, [Kevin] Durant's not here, doesn't mean anything. We can step up and win the gold, too. That's what we did tonight."

And just like every other game, the Americans did it easily.

Tournament MVP Kyrie Irving made all six of his 3-point attempts and scored 26 points, and the U.S. repeated as world champion for the first time by crushing Serbia 129-92 on Sunday in the Basketball World Cup.

James Harden added 23 points for the Americans, who made 11 of 16 3-pointers in a sensational-shooting first half, adding one final romp to a tournament full of them.

This depleted team that was supposedly weak enough to lose was too good to be touched.

"Obviously we didn't have a very close game all tournament, but for that to happen we had to play hard for 40 minutes and not relax and not give any inch while we were out there," guard Stephen Curry said.

The Americans came in winning by 32.5 points per game and their closest victory in the tournament was by 21 points over Turkey. They thought they would get a tough game Sunday, but were simply too good to let that happen.

They finished at 58 percent from the field. They made 15 of 30 3-point attempts and had eight of their 12 players score in double figures.

"I think the results were dominant, but we had spurts of dominance in a lot of games," U.S. coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "And we had tough games and then all of a sudden we'd have a spurt and it looked like we dominated. Tonight we had like about a 35-minute spurt."

The Americans were supposed to have All-Star forwards Durant, Kevin Loveand Blake Griffin, who all informed USA Basketball not long before the tournament that they would be unavailable.

But Irving and Harden stuck around, and despite sending the youngest U.S. team since NBA players debuted in 1992, the Americans remained as dominant as ever.

They have won 63 straight games — 45 in official FIBA events and 18 in exhibition play — and are automatically qualified for the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.

James, Durant, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul might want to return for that competition. But the Americans will have to leave room for some players from this team, which has loads of young talent that figures to get even better from the time it spent together.

The U.S. wrapped the 2014 FIBA tournament with an average win margin of 33.0, the third most by the U.S. in a single tournament.

It was the fifth world title for the Americans, tying Yugoslavia for the most all-time. And the second for Derrick Rose, who used this tournament as his return after missing most of the last two seasons following a pair of knee surgeries, along with Curry and Rudy Gay.

It was the first medal for Serbia, which had been a part of Yugoslavia when it won five. The Yugoslavians had been the last repeat champions, winning in 1998 and 2002.

The Serbians were only 2-3 in the group stage but then routed previously unbeaten Greece and Brazil before building a big lead and holding on for a 90-85 semifinal victory over France, which had beat them in the group stage and knocked out tournament co-favorite Spain in the quarters.

Serbia carried that momentum into the early moments of this one. Using a fluid offense that produced layups and dunks, Serbia opened the biggest lead any team had against the U.S. in this tournament when Miroslav Raduljica's three-point play made it 15-7.

That was wiped out in a minute, and Serbia's hopes of winning didn't last much longer.

"I don't think anything worked what we planned, but nevertheless I'm still happy with the effort that we put on the floor," Serbia coach Sasha Djordjevic said.

Harden had a three-point play and a 3-pointer, DeMarcus Cousins tied it with a pair of free throws, and then Irving had a jumper, 3-pointer and layup to cap a 15-0 burst that made it 22-15.

Irving hit a couple more 3s in an 11-0 run later in the quarter that provided a 35-19 cushion, and the Americans poured it on midway through the second in making it 56-30 after back-to-back 3s by Irving and Harden.

France beat Lithuania 95-93 on Saturday for the bronze.

 

 

There was never a doubt for the red, white and blue.

Team USA destroyed Serbia in the 2014 FIBA World Cup final to the tune of 129-92. Kyrie Irving led the way with 26 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field and 6-of-6 from downtown, while James Harden added 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting.

Irving was named the MVP for the World Cup, while NBA on ESPN shared the entire all-tournament team:

 

Nikola Kalinic and Nemanja Bjelica each scored 18 points for Serbia.

The blowout victory in the championship game completed a World Cup where the Americans were never challenged. In fact, their closest winning margin in nine games was 21 points over Turkey in the group stage.

Kenneth Faried commented on the notion that there was some doubt about this team heading into the World Cup, according to The Associated Press (via ESPN.com):

The entire 2014 FIBA World Cup was supposed to be all about a showdown between the United States and Spain in the championship game. France ruined that by shocking Spain in the quarterfinals, and then Serbia knocked out France in the semis.

The Americans would have none of the upset bug.

However, it was Serbia that jumped out to an early eight-point lead in the first quarter. Perhaps Team USA expected to simply roll over Serbia just by showing up, which would explain the slow start. Brian Mahoney of The Associated Press noted that the early deficit was uncharted territory for Mike Krzyzewski's team:

 

Grantland's Zach Lowe and Kurt Helin of Pro Basketball Talk described just how Serbia took an early lead:

 

Irving then decided to take matters into his own hands. The Cavaliers point guard scored 15 early points and started 6-of-8 from the field and 3-of-3 from behind the three-point line. NBA on ESPN and Duke Basketball gave him a shoutout:

 

Behind Irving's efforts, the Americans seized a 35-21 lead after the first quarter.

Team USA extended its lead in the second quarter, but not without some concern. Anthony Davis and Kenneth Faried both picked up three fouls in the first half, which meant it was DeMarcus Cousins' time to shine.

NBA on ESPN shared a highlight, while Nate Duncan of Basketball Insiders noted how critical Cousins' defense was:

 

 

While the interior play was certainly impressive, it was the three-point shooting for the Americans that completely put the game away before halftime. In fact, Irving hit four treys, Harden connected on three from distance, Klay Thompson had two from long range and Rudy Gay andStephen Curry each hit one.

In all, Team USA shot 11-of-16 from three-point range in the first half.

Duncan offered up some solid advice for Serbia:

 

Thanks to the barrage of perimeter shooting, Krzyzewski's squad had an overwhelming 67-41 lead at the half.

Things didn't look much different in the third quarter. The United States' NBA superstars were hitting on all cylinders with their shots. It really wasn't even a fair matchup on paper.

The Americans do deserve credit for coming out of the locker room with some intensity. Duncan suggested as much, while ESPN's Marc Stein pointed out that the coaching staff was matching the energy:

 

Things simply got out of hand for Serbia in the third quarter. The United States stretched its lead to more than 30 points midway through the third and eviscerated the Serbian defense. Zach Harper of CBS Sports thought Serbia should maybe change its defensive look:

 

While it was easy to criticize Serbia's defense, ESPN commentator Fran Fraschilla told Bleacher Report before the game that Krzyzewski deserved plenty of credit: "I'd be very surprised if Team USA, because of Coach K's influence, takes their eyes off the prize. There's less of a sense of entitlement among these NBA stars than there was eight or nine years ago. To beat this team, you have to play an A+ game."

The only team playing an A+ game Sunday was the United States. It took a commanding 105-67 lead into the fourth quarter.

Harper summarized how many were feeling, while John Schumann of NBA.com pointed out just how ridiculous the Americans' effort really was:

 

With the game well in hand, it was time to watch individual players. Duncan provided some encouraging news for Chicago Bulls fans:

 

However, Derrick Rose was among the few Americans who hadn't cracked the scoreboard, as Sam Smith of Bulls.com pointed out:

 

Fortunately for the United States, plenty of players were stuffing the stat sheet. As NBA on ESPN noted, seven players were in double figures as the game entered its final minutes:

 

Thanks to a blistering shooting performance from the majority of the team, the fourth quarter was simply a formality. In fact, Serbia outscored Krzyzewski's team 25-24 in the final frame, but Team USA still won the game by 37 points.

It was yet another dominating performance for Team USA, which hardly had to bat an eye on its way to gold.

While the Americans were clearly more impressive than any other team by a wide margin at the World Cup, some may view the triumph with hesitation because it didn't come against Spain.

Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated commented on that idea:

 

From an NBA perspective, this experience should prove beneficial for the superstars that played for Team USA. Players like Irving, Davis, Faried and Cousins, who were excellent for much of the tournament, will likely be more confident in their own abilities, while Derrick Rose's knees passed an extended test.

The Chicago Sun-Times suggested as much during the game:

 

While NBA fans are certainly looking forward to that, Team USA has some time to revel in its World Cup title.

      זאת שאלה לא במקום. מה הוא עשה עד עכשיו כדי שבכלל ישאלו עליו את השאלה הזו ? הוא היה שחקן מבריק, אבל במשך זמן כה קצר שלא מאפשר התייחסות. אם הוא יחזור לעצמו במשך 4-5 עונות יהיה אפשר לפתוח את הדיון.

    ח"ח על המשחק מילים, ויותר על ההכנסה שלי בפוסט. לפי החצי השני, האמריקאים היו צריכים לנצח ב-43 נקודות. היתרון הענקי שלהם זה העומק. אם אנחנו הולכים 5 מול 5 של כל קבוצה ל-40 דקות, לא בטוח שהם מנצחים. 12 מול 12? סיכוי גבוה ביותר. אני מסכים שאם רוז נותן משחק ברמה של 2011/12 (עונת האמ.וי.פי שלו), הם לוקחים. אבל זה לא יקרה לדעתי.

    איזה מומי ? מומי שלנו ? (למי שרואה את "הפרלמנט")

    אם אני זוכר נכון, רוז היה אדיר בכניסות ומסירות אבל היתה לו יד בינונית מחצי מרחק ומהשלוש.
    השאלה האם הוא יכול לשפר את הזריקה משום המהירות והתעוזה קצת ירדו בגלל הפציעה (ואפילו בתת מודע)

    זה לחלוטין שקר.
    אין שום מקום שקובע שהאמריקאים לא פייבוריטים לזכות בטורניר.
    תפסיק לגמד ציפיות.
    האמריקאים פייבוריטים לפני שהטורניר התחיל, תוך כדי, וגם לפני הגמר.

    אני קבעתי שהם לא יותר טובים מהספרדים ושהם יפסידו, לא אתמול, אלא מתחילת הטורניר כמעט.

    לכן כל שנותר לך לעשות זה או להגיד אמן למה שאמרתי או לעשות מעצמך צחוק ולהאמין שהאמריקאים ינצחו בסביבות ה-20 הפרש את ספרד.

    אני מקווה שיהיה לפחות משחק צמוד (פחות מ 15 הפרש יחשב לצמוד מבחינתי).

    מנחם אני איתך , זה לא ממש כוחות.
    קי 700 רגיל לעיזים ספרדיות ולכן הוא חרמן על הספרדים כאילו מי יודע מה, אבל באמת שאין לו טיפת הבנה בסיסית בכדורסל.

    ההבדל בין ספרד לשאר הנבחרות- יש לה עומק להתמודד עם האמריקאים.
    כל השאר סחבו מחצית. אצל ספרד אברינאס הנהדר הוא שחקן פוסטר (שחקן חמישיה בכל נבחרת אחרת )

    מצד שני, בדיוק לכך ספרד הביאה את לה בומבה. הווינר, הקלאץ', והביצים הכי גדולות בקטלוניה, והאלפא דוג של הנבחרת מאז הוא בן 14.
    אם הוא תופס את היום שלו- האמריקאים יתקשו מאוד.
    יתקשו, לא בהכרח יפסידו.

    אז ואללהה בוא אני יגיד לך משהו, ארה"ב גם ב4 שחקנים, כאשר רוז עם יד ימין מצופת נחושת, עם אנטוני דיוויס רץ על הפרקט עם פומפה תקועה בתחת, שבאותו זמן פאריד קולע צמות עם השיער קש שלו + הארדן משוטט על הפרקט ומגלח תזקן תוך כדי המשחק עם מכונת פיליפס, גם במצב הזה ארה"ב פייבוריטית
    כמה אפשר לזיין תמוח ?!?!! כמה אתה מזיין תמוח?!!? ארה"ב פייבוריטית להשתין על ספרד כל עוד הם משחקים ברצינות, כל עוד הם רציניים נגר פה הסיפור

    הדבר הכי טוב במיסטר רוז זה שהוא פצוע כל הזמן.
    אפשר להתווכח כל הזמן אם הוא הכי טוב בעולם… כל עוד הוא לא יכול לשחק.
    כשישחק שנתיים שלוש רצוף נראה מאיזה חומר הוא קורץ באמת
    (ונקווה שלא זכוכית)
