מקגריידי צפוי למלא את התפקיד של ג'קסון כסווינגמן (קלע וסמול פורוורד) מחליף. טי-מאק נותן לספרס עומק משמעותי בעמדת השוטינג גארד, דבר שיסייע לספרס לאורך הקאמבק של ג'ינובלי מהפציעה שעבר. מקגריידי עצמו אמר ל-ESPN: "אני שמח להיות חלק מהסביבה הזאת. זה משהו שמעולם לא חוויתי בשיא שלי".
מקגריידי לעולם לא שיחק בקבוצה שהגיעה רחוק בפלייאוף. בעונה האחרונה הוא שיחק בליגה הסינית, וקלע 25 נקודות עם 7.2 ריבאונדים ו-5.1 אסיסטים למשחק, אבל הקבוצה שלו ושל שחקן בוסטון לשעבר לסטר הדסון הגיעה למקום האחרון בליגה הסינית. בקריירה למקגריידי יש בממוצע 19.6 נקודות עם 5.6 ריבאונדים ו-4.4 אסיסטים.
למקגריידי יש רזומה רחב-7 פעמים אול-סטאר, פעמיים בחמישית העונה הראשונה, 3 פעמים בחמישיית העונה השנייה ופעמיים בחמישיית העונה השלישית. הוא גם השחקן המשתפר, מלך הסלים פעמיים ואלוף אמריקה מ-2003 (היבשת;לא ארה"ב). הדבר המרכזי שחסר למקגריידי ברזומה הוא טבעת אליפות, שהוא ינסה להשיג עם סן אנטוניו.

שחקן ענק שנתן להם כ"כ הרבה.
על מה רב עם הפלח שהיה כ"כ אקוטי? מישהו יודע?
סיבה אני לא יודע, אבל אני יכול להגיד לך שג'קסון התסכסך עם כל המאמנים שהיו לו מאז שהצטרף לווריורס ב-2007 (רב עם פופוביץ', סילאס ואני חושב שגם עם סקיילס, ונלסון).
עם פלחים לא מסתכסכים באמצע אימון לפני כולם. ההפסד של סטפן ג'קסון יהיה מאד כואב לספארס!
לא מובן לי המהלך הזה.אך נראה לי שהשמחה ברוקטס /לייקרס גדולה מאד.מכיוון שכך יש להם סיכוי להעפיל לחצי גמר המערב.
כי כידוע יש את "קללת מגריידי" האומרת שקבוצה שלו לא עוברת את הסיבוב הראשון בפליאוף (לפרטים נא לפנות ליוסטון )
אם מגריידי יהיה חצי ממה שהוא היה פעם- סן אנטוניו קטלנית.
כמה חבל לי על השחקן הזה. זכור לי איך בשיאם הוא, וינס קרטר, אייברסון ובראיינט היו הולכים ראש בראש על תואר השחקן הכי טוב..
