\nDwight Gooden won the Rookie of the Year title in 1984, went 24\u201a4 with 268 strikeouts in winning the Cy Young Award in '85 and helped lead the Mets to the World Series championship in '86. But his was a story of paradise lost: he was admitted to a drug rehab center in 1987 and was never again as dominant.
