Stibel was the Chairman and CEO of Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp<\/a> until its merger with Dun and Bradstreet<\/a>. He became Vice Chairman of the merged company after the acquisition.[6]<\/a><\/sup>[7]<\/a><\/sup>[8]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

As an entrepreneur and business executive, Stibel has helped start and grow a number of companies and was listed as one of Business Week's "40 under 40."[2]<\/a><\/sup> He was formerly the President and CEO of Web.com<\/a> (NASDAQ<\/a>: WWWW) and was previously the CEO of Interland<\/a> (NASDAQ: INLD).[9]<\/a><\/sup> He also serves on the Board of Directors for Autobytel<\/a> (NASDAQ: ABTL).[10]<\/a><\/sup> He was General Manager and Senior Vice President of United Online<\/a> (NASDAQ: UNTD), which runs ISPs NetZero<\/a> and Juno<\/a>, and social networking<\/a> site Classmates.com<\/a>.[11]<\/a><\/sup> He was the founder and CEO of Applied Cognition Labs, WorldWide MediaWorks (offeroutlet.com),[12]<\/a><\/sup> SeaVista Development and Simpli<\/a>,[13]<\/a><\/sup> which is currently owned by ValueClick<\/a>, (NASDAQ: VCLK).[14]<\/a><\/sup> He currently sits on the Board of Directors<\/a> of Web.com, EdgeCast,[15]<\/a><\/sup>[16]<\/a><\/sup> Autobytel, ThinMail,[17]<\/a><\/sup> The Search Agency[18]<\/a><\/sup> and Axon Labs<\/a>.[19]<\/a><\/sup> He also serves on the academic Boards of Brown University<\/a>\u2019s Entrepreneurship Program[20]<\/a><\/sup> and Tufts University<\/a>\u2019s Leadership Center.[9]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

Stibel left graduate school to start Simpli, a search and marketing company that was sold to NetZero in 2001 and again to ValueClick in 2004.[21]<\/a><\/sup> He started Simpli with professors from Brown University<\/a> (James A. Anderson<\/a>, Steve Reiss<\/a>), MIT<\/a> (Dan Ariely<\/a>) and Princeton University<\/a> (George A. Miller<\/a>), as well as entrepreneurs David Landan, Peter Delgrosso and Carl Dunham. He later helped form United Online, a public company that acquired NetZero and Juno in 2001 and later bought Classmates.com and FTD. In 2005, he left United Online to become the CEO of Interland,[22]<\/a><\/sup> a public company that was rebranded by Stibel and team as a new company called Web.com.[23]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

Brain Science<\/span><\/h3>\n

As an academic and scientist, Stibel focused most of his career on brain science<\/a>, the interdisciplinary study of psychology<\/a>, philosophy<\/a>, artificial intelligence<\/a> and neuroscience<\/a>.[24]<\/a><\/sup> He received degrees in philosophy and psychology as an undergraduate at Tufts University<\/a> and counts Daniel Dennett<\/a> as a mentor.[25]<\/a><\/sup> He received a degree in brain science at Brown University<\/a>, where he studied under James A. Anderson.[26]<\/a><\/sup> He also studied business, marketing<\/a> and economics<\/a> under Dan Ariely at MIT Sloan School of Management<\/a>. He received an honorary Ph.D. in business from Pepperdine University<\/a> and gave the commencement address in 2015.[27]<\/a><\/sup> Stibel has published numerous academic articles in brain science, psychology, economics and business, and he is a regular contributor to Harvard Business Review<\/a>.[28<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n
