And there\u2019s Jordan backing them all up with size, leaping ability and \u2014 in these games \u2014 a license to take the ball off the rim.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hangtime.blogs.nba.com\/tag\/fran-blinebury\/\"><strong>Fran Blinebury, NBA.com<\/strong><\/a><strong>:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Jimmy Butler, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Paul George and DeAndre Jordan.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hangtime.blogs.nba.com\/tag\/scott-howard-cooper\/\"><strong>Scott Howard-Cooper, NBA.com<\/strong><\/a><strong>:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>DeAndre Jordan, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, Paul George, Jimmy Butler.<\/strong> That would force someone to defend a point guard, but very few opponents will have a PG with the ability to go around Thompson or Butler, for example. If I need a point guard for defense, I go with<strong>Kyle Lowry<\/strong> and sit one of those two.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hangtime.blogs.nba.com\/tag\/john-schuhmann\/\"><strong>John Schuhmann, NBA.com<\/strong><\/a><strong>:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>A long lineup of Jimmy Butler<\/strong>, <strong>Paul George<\/strong>, <strong>Kevin Durant<\/strong>, <strong>Draymond Green<\/strong> <strong>and DeAndre Jordan<\/strong> wouldn\u2019t have too many issues switching everything and would be tough to score on. And it\u2019s a lineup that we very well may see. When you factor in the shorter 3-point line in FIBA rules, this crew \u2014 three of whom will be playing together in 2016-17, along with the reigning two-time Kia MVP \u2014 would be scary-lethal. If you forced me to make a pick, I\u2019ll take a flyer on France with a roster stocked with NBA talent.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hangtime.blogs.nba.com\/tag\/scott-howard-cooper\/\"><strong>Scott Howard-Cooper, NBA.com<\/strong><\/a><strong>:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>France, then Spain.<\/strong> The French are expected to have <strong>Tony Parker<\/strong>, <strong>Nicolas Batum<\/strong>, <strong>Rudy Gobert<\/strong>, <strong>Boris Diaw<\/strong> and others, some with an NBA background, plus many years together that includes reaching the quarterfinals in London. (The surprise was that France left <strong>Evan Fournier<\/strong> off the roster.) It won\u2019t be enough to beat Team USA, but that lineup will get the Americans\u2019 attention.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hangtime.blogs.nba.com\/tag\/john-schuhmann\/\"><strong>John Schuhmann, NBA.com<\/strong><\/a><strong>:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Spain has better offensive talent, but France has the defenders<\/strong> \u2014 namely <strong>Nicolas Batum<\/strong> and <strong>Rudy Gobert<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 that can make things interesting against the U.S. They also have a very good coach, <strong>Vincent Collet<\/strong>, whose game plan played a big part in their upset of Spain in the World Cup quarterfinals in Madrid two years ago. It would help if <strong>Tony Parker<\/strong> was a few years younger, because neither Parker (at 34) nor France\u2019s other ball handlers have the quickness to really make the U.S. defense scramble. While Spain has been able to hang with the U.S. in a couple of high-scoring games in the last two Olympics, France would need a much uglier game to have a shot.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hangtime.blogs.nba.com\/tag\/sekou-smith\/\"><strong>Sekou Smith, NBA.com<\/strong><\/a><strong>:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>I don\u2019t believe the U.S. is in any sort of imminent danger from the field in Rio.<\/strong> France and Spain always stick out from the crowd, due to the abundance of NBA players on their respective rosters. But the U.S. is the only team that can go up and down the roster and tap NBA All-Stars to hit the floor and play at a high level for short stretches. If things get interesting late in any game, I\u2019ll be pleasantly surprised.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hangtime.blogs.nba.com\/tag\/ian-thomsen\/\"><strong>Ian Thomsen, NBA.com<\/strong><\/a><strong>:\u00a0<\/strong>The leadership of <strong>Tony Parker<\/strong>, the shot-blocking of <strong>Rudy Gobert<\/strong>, the playmaking of <strong>Boris Diaw<\/strong> and the perimeter defense of <strong>Nicolas Batum<\/strong> will give France the best chance in the final game of group play \u2014 especially if the French are fighting for a higher seed and the Americans are looking ahead to the knockout round. That being said, <strong>I don\u2019t see any team capable of beating the U.S.<\/strong> There will be a surprisingly close game or two, but the great players of the traditional basketball powers \u2013 Parker, <strong>Pau Gasol<\/strong> of Spain and <strong>Manu Ginobili<\/strong> of Argentina \u2014 have grown old while USA Basketball has continually replenished.
