Before the drawing, Smart Play weighs, measures and certifies the ping-pong balls used in the drawin<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-large-font-size\"><strong>**********<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The 1st overall pick is awarded by a drawing of ping pong balls<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The 2nd overall pick is awarded by a drawing of ping pong balls<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The 3rd overall pick is awarded by a drawing of ping pong balls<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The 4th overall pick is awarded by a drawing of ping pong balls<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Remaining lottery teams, sorted by record, fill out picks 5-14<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-luminous-vivid-amber-background-color has-background\">3. \u05db\u05d9\u05e6\u05d3, \u05e1\u05e4\u05e6\u05d9\u05e4\u05d9\u05ea, \u05d4\u05dc\u05d5\u05d8\u05e8\u05d9 \u05e2\u05d5\u05d1\u05d3?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The 41st NBA Draft Lottery will determine the order of selection for the first 14 picks of the 2025 NBA Draft presented by State Farm. <\/strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong>Drawings will be conducted to determine the first four picks in the NBA Draft. The remainder of the \u201clottery teams\u201d will select in positions five through 14 in inverse order of their 2024-25 regular-season record<\/strong>s.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The actual lottery drawings will take place in a separate room just <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">before ESPN\u2019s national broadcast of the results. Select media, NBA officials and representatives from the participating teams will be in attendance for the drawing<\/mark>s.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-luminous-vivid-amber-background-color has-background has-medium-font-size\">4. <strong>\u05db\u05da \u05d6\u05d4 \u05e2\u05d5\u05d1\u05d3 \u05e2\u05dd \u05d4\u05db\u05d3\u05d5\u05e8\u05d9\u05dd<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The drawing uses 14 ping-pong balls, numbered 1 through 14. There are 1,001 possible combinations when four balls are drawn out of 14, without regard to their order of selection. Before the lottery, 1,000 of those 1,001 combinations will be assigned to the 14 participating lottery teams.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-medium-font-size\"><strong>For the drawing, all 14 balls are placed in the lottery machine. They are mixed for 20 seconds, and then the first ball is drawn. The remaining balls are mixed in the lottery machine for another 10 seconds, and then the second ball is drawn. There is another 10-second mix, and then the third ball is drawn. There is a final 10-second mix, and then the fourth ball is drawn. <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">The team that has been assigned the combination of the four balls drawn from the machine will receive the No. 1 pick<\/mark> <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">in the 2025 NBA Draft.<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The ping-pong balls are then placed back in the machine and the same process is repeated for the second through fourth picks. If the same team comes up more than once (or if the one unassigned combination is drawn), then the result is discarded and another four-ball combination is drawn.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The 20-second and 10-second intervals at which the balls are mixed in the machine are monitored by a timekeeper who faces away from the machine and signals to the machine operator that the applicable period of time has elapsed. Marc Dieli, a partner at the independent accounting firm Ernst &amp; Young LLP, will be in the drawing room and will oversee the entire lottery process. After the drawing, he will stuff and seal envelopes for each of the first 14 picks in the lottery with the applicable team\u2019s logo.
