wp-block-paragraph\">  <strong>a lot of players are returning to college basketball who have already been \u2014 in some capacity \u2014 rejected by the NBA in previous years. For instance, players who feature within this top 75 like Wichita State\u2019s Tyson Etienne didn\u2019t even earn a G League Elite Camp invite last year. Illinois\u2019 Kofi Cockburn couldn\u2019t get an NBA Draft Combine invite. Players such as USC\u2019s Isaiah Mobley, Texas Tech\u2019s Terrence Shannon Jr. and Arizona State\u2019s Marcus Bagley couldn\u2019t prove themselves enough in front of scouts to feel certain they would end up with guaranteed deals. Two of those players are in the top 30 here! This is going to be a wild year with an awful lot of movement, with players emerging and declining throughout the season.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-text-align-left has-medium-font-size has-very-light-gray-background-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Obviously, the only near-certainty for teenage and early-20s basketball players is that they\u2019re going to get better. And that\u2019s what this board is about at this early stage. It\u2019s best taken as a watch list as opposed to a tried-and-true ranking of players. It\u2019s not an exaggeration to say that, heading into this draft season, I have a larger watch list of players I feel like I need to get eyes on that exceeds 300. So yeah, this class is going to be a strange one.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-text-align-left has-medium-font-size has-very-light-gray-background-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/theathletic.com\/2863922\/2021\/10\/18\/2022-nba-mock-draft-2-0-paolo-banchero-back-on-top-as-seasons-gear-up-but-class-has-questions\/\" target=\"_blank\">As I said when I did the mock draft<\/a>, this big board isn\u2019t a total shot in the dark \u2014 it\u2019s informed by more than 100 conversations with college coaches, NBA executives and scouts, agents and grassroots evaluators \u2014 but it\u2019s definitely much more guesswork than I\u2019ve had in the past.
