First, it does not take team fit into account.\u00a0In a lot of ways, that\u2019s a silly task, given that every team is looking for something different schematically or in terms of roster fit. Boston\u2019s draft board will look different than Phoenix\u2019s board. Portland likes to play drop pick-and-roll coverage under Terry Stotts, which puts slow-footed bigs into play for them more than it would Golden State, who likes to switch everything. So what this board tries to do is to take the general direction of the NBA and slot in players who I think will play a role at the next level in the largest variety of situations. In that vein, with the way the NBA is going, wings tend to end up marginally higher on my board than bigs. Simply put, every team needs more perimeter players who are multi-positional defenders.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Also,\u00a0 I do not rank freshman at this early stage of the season who slot outside of the top-50. Why? First, it\u2019s rare for freshmen to declare for the draft when their names are outside of the top 50. Second, I\u2019m cognizant of the role things like this play in shaping the narrative of teenagers\u2019 games. After discussing with players, coaches, and executives, it seems to be the responsible thing to do to leave them off right now so as to not potentially fill their heads with more information.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Third, I certainly get input and information from NBA executives, college coaches and other evaluators during the process of slotting players. It\u2019s critical to have conversations with folks around the basketball community about players in order to get a well-rounded picture of a player\u2019s future. Sometimes, it\u2019s about their background and off-court habits. Sometimes, it\u2019s about their work ethic. Other times, it\u2019s honestly just a conversation about whether or not we think a guy can play. These conversations happen daily.
